Jij Mercer

Jij Mercer joined Western United in 2001 and is currently the head Coach of the Boys u14 Black team and the u18 boys team

• In his nine years at Western he has led two teams to the Paul Irwin Cup u12 Championship, earned two MAPLE Division Championships and led his teams to two State Cup semifinals.
• Jij played collegiately at Springfield College where he captained the team his senior year.
• Jij has coached Varsity high School soccer both boys and girls for twenty two years. Currently in his 11th year as the head Boys’ Varsity Soccer Coach at South Hadley High School, Jij has led his South Hadley team to the Western Mass playoffs 9 times with his 2008 team a Western Mass finalist.
• He holds his NSCAA National Diploma and Advanced National Diploma as well as his State Goalkeeper certificate. Jij is also certified in First Aid, CPR, as a Life Guard Instructor and is a Massachusetts certified teacher.
